On August 9, 2023, we had the honor of welcoming Professor Peter Tornquist, the Dean of Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, and Mr. Kenny Ooi, the Project Manager, from the National University of Singapore (NUS) to National Taiwan University of Arts (NTUA). The reception was hosted by Professor Yu-Ling Chao, the Dean of the Office of International Affairs. Assistant Professors Chuan-An Hou and Yi-Xian Ding from the Department of Music, Assistant Professor Liao Hai-Ting, the Head of the Center for Sound Arts and Acoustics Research attended as well. It is worth mentioning that in April of this year, the music department of our university visited NUS as part of an educational exchange program, which laid the foundation for this remarkable event.
During the meeting, representatives from both institutions introduced their respective academic programs and discussed opportunities and challenges for future international collaborations, including the dual degree, exchange students program and jointly concerts. After the meeting, Professor Chao accompanied the guests on a tour of the Music Department, Performing Hall, and Center for Sound Arts and Acoustics Research, introducing the university’s achievements in music academic research and daily teaching activities, promoting mutual exchange and learning.
This visit has laid a solid foundation for further strengthening the collaboration and exchange between our two institutions. We look forward to enhancing cooperation in the future, fostering the growth of artistic education and academic research, and making greater contributions to students, teachers, alumni, and society. We believe this visit will mark the beginning of a deeper partnership between our university and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at the National University of Singapore.
