NTUA Outstanding Alumnus Hou Hsiao-Hsien Awarded Best Director at the 68th Cannes Films Festival!

Director Hou Hsiao-Hsien, who graduated from the National Taiwan University of Arts in 1974, is a member of the 13th class of Outstanding Alumni, as well as NTUA's 50th Anniversary Outstanding Model Alumni. He has also received a honorary doctorate degree from NTUA in June 2010. During the 41 years after his graduation, his critically acclaimed films include the following: Lovable You (1980), Cheerful Wind (1981), Green,Green Grass of Home (1982), The Sandwich Man (1983), The Boys From Fengkuei (1983), A Summer At Grandpas (1984), A Time To Live, A Time To Die (1985), Dust In The Wind (1985), Daughter of The Nile (1987), A City of Sadness (1989), The Puppetmaster (1993), Good Men, Good Women (1995), Goodbye South, Goodbye (1996), Flowers of Shanghai (1998), Millennium Mambo (2001), Coffee Jikou (2004), Three Times (2005), and Le Voyage du Ballon rouge (2006). In 2007 he directed The Electric Princess House for the Chacun son Cinéma (To Each His Own Cinema) at the Cannes Film Festival, and recently in 2015, he was awarded the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival, bring great honor for Taiwanese films to the international stage.
